Getting Started
On your Dashboard, click New Book, New Manga or New Animation, or open Projects and click New Project. Choose the type, give it a title, add a description if you like, and confirm. Manga and Animation projects need a Premium or Team plan.
OpenAI (GPT), Anthropic (Claude) and Google AI (Gemini). You add your own API key in Settings > API Keys and pay the provider directly.
Yes. The Free plan has no time limit and includes 3 projects, the Book Studio, TXT and Markdown export, and publishing on the marketplace. Premium adds unlimited projects, the Manga and Animation studios, and EPUB, DOCX and PDF export. AI features use your own API key on every plan.
Novels and short stories in the Book Studio, manga and webtoons in the Manga Studio, and screenplays with storyboards in the Animation Studio (beta). Manga and Animation need a Premium or Team plan.
Navigate to Settings > API Keys. Paste your key from OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google AI. The key is encrypted and stored securely. You can test the connection right from the settings page.
Writing
You write, and you call the AI when you want it. Type a request in the prompt bar under your text (Ctrl+G jumps there), select a passage to rewrite, expand or summarize it, or open the AI Assistant tab to talk through your plot.
It helps. Each request sends the AI your characters, your world elements and the titles of your earlier chapters, so names and traits stay consistent. Keep those panels up to date for the best results.
In a book project, open the Characters panel on the left side of the editor. Add a name, appearance, personality traits and a backstory. The AI uses the name, appearance and traits when it writes.
Yes. The Free plan exports TXT and Markdown. Premium and Team add EPUB, DOCX and PDF: you pick the font, size and margins, then save the PDF from your browser's print window. You can also download a full backup of your project.
The Book Studio saves your chapter a few seconds after you stop typing, and the header shows whether it is saved. Ctrl+S saves right away.
Publishing
Open your book and click Publish in the editor header. Add a synopsis, a genre and tags, choose Free, Paid or Freemium (first chapters free), and set the price in US dollars. The cover is the one set in the Chapters tab. For now, only book projects can be published.
Yes. Choose Paid or Freemium and set a price in US dollars. Readers pay by card through Stripe, and you keep 90% of each sale. Connect your Stripe account from the Creator Dashboard first, or readers won't be able to buy.
Readers rate a work from 1 to 5 stars and can write a review on its page. You can reply once to each review, from the same page.
Yes. Open the book in the editor and click Unpublish. It leaves the marketplace right away. Readers who bought it keep access, and you can publish it again later.
Our Terms of Service apply: you must hold the rights to what you publish, and unlawful content, including anything that exploits minors, is banned. Mark adult content as 18+ when you publish. We can remove works that break these rules.
Account
Go to Settings > Profile. You can update your display name, bio, avatar, and social links. Your profile is visible to other users on the marketplace and in book clubs.
Not from the settings yet: your email is shown read-only in Settings > Profile. If you need to change it, contact support.
Go to Settings > Account & Security, scroll to the Danger Zone and click Delete Account, then type DELETE to confirm. This cannot be undone. You can download your data first from the same page.
Your API keys are encrypted with AES-256-GCM, passwords are hashed with bcrypt, and the site only runs over HTTPS. You can download all your data from Settings > Account & Security. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Yes. TaleForge is available in 10 languages: English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic and Hebrew. The Arabic and Hebrew versions are still partly in English. Pick your language from the menu at the top or bottom of the page.
Billing
There are three plans. Free costs nothing and has no time limit. Premium is $9.99 a month and Team $24.99 a month, in US dollars. AI usage is separate: you pay your AI provider directly. The Pricing page lists what each plan includes.
By card, through Stripe, in US dollars. Readers pay once per work. There are no coins or credits to buy.
Publish a book as Paid or Freemium. When a reader buys it, 90% of the price goes to your Stripe account and TaleForge keeps 10%. Stripe then pays you out on its usual schedule. Connect Stripe from your Creator Dashboard (Set up Stripe), or your paid works can't be bought.
Yes. Paid plans have a 14-day money-back guarantee: write to us within 14 days of a charge and we refund it in full. A book you bought is refunded only if it is materially different from its description. Contact: support@tale-forge.com.
There is no trial of the paid plans, but the Free plan has no time limit. You can upgrade whenever you like and cancel at any time from Settings > Subscription.
Collaboration
Yes, in book projects, with a Premium plan (up to 5 collaborators per project) or Team (no limit). The Free plan can't invite anyone. Open the Team panel in the editor, click Invite, enter the email of someone who has a TaleForge account, and choose Editor or Viewer. They accept from their Invitations page. Editing is not real-time: if two people change the same chapter at once, the last save wins.
Anyone can create or join a club from the Book Clubs page. A club is public or private, has a member limit, and has a discussion space where members post and reply.
Yes, with a Premium or Team plan. Invite people as viewers: they can read your work without it being on the marketplace. Viewers count toward your collaborator limit.
When a reading challenge is running, join it from the Reading Challenges page and track your progress. Completing one earns XP and counts toward your achievements.
You can follow creators, react to posts in the community feed on your Dashboard, comment on chapters, join book clubs and reading challenges, and unlock achievements.
